Remote Band/Wind Ensemble
Spring Term: January 25, 2021 - June 11, 2021
Remote Band is a virtual band class. It's divided into A (advancing beginners) and B (beginners). Band rehearsals are on a weekly schedule. Sectional rehearsals and group lessons are scheduled at different times of the week than band rehearsal.
Remote Band can be taught entirely online via Zoom and several other web apps. Students will need an instrument, music stand, headset (long wired or wireless), access to laptop/desktop. Books will be an additional cost. Digital books and music designed for this course are all included with the tuition. Optional, but recommended, access to iPad or other tablet to better "write/draw" notes and do theory homework.
Instruments: You will need your own instrument, whether rental or owned. We have a limited supply of special starter instruments for smaller or younger beginners that may be rented. Many shops offer rent to own. We can help new students with rent to own a budget instrument option. These instruments are low budget friendly, and tested before handed to students. As students progress, a well-cared low budget instrument can be a useful instrument for several years. Message for details.
Wind Ensemble: Wind Ensemble is type of "band" that is comprised mainly of wind instruments. And orchestra would be comprised mainly of string instruments.
A Band: For students who have already had 4th grade band (or experience learning their instrument). This band class will be ideal for band students between grade 4-6.
B Band: For students who have never taken an instrument, or have been away from their instrument long enough to feel the need to start over. Ideal for students between grades 3-6 who are interested to learn a band instrument.
Percussion Ensemble: NOW AVAILABLE! Most students will only have their snare and bells. Percussion Ensemble is a band just for percussion, with especially composed pieces featuring the groovy tunes that rhythm can make. In addition to the snare and bells, we will have creative percussion (and if anyone owns other percussion, we can include that as well). Percussionist will have to invest in a 2nd mic (like a USB clip-on lapel mic for $15-25). Percussion is usually recorded with 2 mics (below/above). Please ask for more information on mics. Classes can begin with just your laptop mic. I will not require any expensive gear! Adequate will work fine.
Intermediate Band: Will be coming Summer 2021. Please signup to our "Intermediate Band (waitlist)" to be notified when this class is available.
